Great post.

I can tell you that living in the Midwest where there are tornados every other night through the summer and week long periods where the Mississippi River is over its banks, neither natural disaster is as awesome as a raging wildfire. I don't think people can understand how quickly it can move or how devastating it can be in such a short amount of time. To me, your emotional connection is totally understandable.
